The Trails of M-22
As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy has teamed up with MichiganTrailMaps.com to produce a new guidebook; The Trails of M-22.
The full-color, 192-page book focuses 40 of the most beautiful paths that are accessed from what many consider Michigan’s most beautiful highway. The 116-mile state highway, that wraps around Michigan’s little pinky like a glove, passes through the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, the state’s most popular national park, and serves as the gateway to more than two-dozen preserves protected by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy in Manistee and Benzie Counties and the Leelanau Conservancy in Leelanau County.
The Trails of M-22 was written by Jim DuFresne, one of the best known outdoor writers in the Midwest and author of more than 20 books including Isle Royale National Park: Foot Trails & Water Routes and 50 Hikes in Michigan. Along with outstanding photography, the guidebook features more than 40 trail maps with larger, more detailed versions available from MichiganTrailMaps.com (www.michigantrailmaps.com) and can be downloaded to smart phones and tablets or as PDF files to be printed later.
